LED display power supply replacement starts with the cabinet’s approved electrical design and the full part number on the existing unit. Match the required DC output, site input supply, usable current capacity, mounting arrangement, terminals, and cooling conditions before ordering. The same wattage—or a similar-looking metal enclosure—does not establish compatibility.

This guide is for an AV integrator buying replacement parts for an installed LED wall. It focuses on the information needed to obtain a confirmed replacement, rather than instructions for working on exposed electrical equipment. Have a qualified technician isolate the equipment and gather the details below using the cabinet manufacturer’s service procedure.

Send a replacement request with four things

  • A readable photograph of the complete old-unit label, including its model suffix.
  • The cabinet model, module revision, and an overview of the installed arrangement.
  • The actual site supply voltage and the operating environment.
  • A request for written compatibility confirmation, including any installation changes.

1. Identify the part before LED display power supply replacement

Record the whole model number, not just the large number that resembles a wattage rating. Include suffixes, revision information, input and output labels, and any separate cabinet part number. If the installation has been expanded or repaired before, check whether every cabinet still uses the same hardware.

A useful photo set includes the label close-up, the terminal side, the mounting points, and the surrounding cabinet. Keep the pictures associated with one cabinet identifier. A label from one screen and a wiring photo from another can produce a plausible but incorrect replacement recommendation.

EAA200HS4.5 label showing 200-240V AC input and 4.5V 40A output beside its terminals
EagerLED EAA200HS4.5 product photograph. The pictured label states 200–240 V AC input and 4.5 V DC, 40 A output. These are details of the photographed unit, not a universal specification for LED cabinets.

The photographed EAA200HS4.5 is a useful example of why a generic “5 V LED power supply” order is insufficient. Its label identifies a different nominal output. Use the EAA200HS4.5 product listing as an identification reference, then confirm the current supplied revision and its suitability for the existing cabinet.

When a label, product listing, and drawing disagree, ask the supplier for a revision-matched specification before approving the order. Do not combine the most convenient numbers from different documents. That clarification belongs in the quotation record so the receiving team can check the delivered part.

2. Separate the input supply from the DC load

Input voltage describes what the power supply accepts from the installation. Output voltage describes what it delivers to the cabinet electronics. Both must be suitable. A replacement that provides the right DC output can still be unsuitable for the available AC feed.

For example, the 200–240 V AC marking visible in the product photo does not establish suitability for a 110–120 V circuit. A buyer in North America should report the actual circuit supply rather than assume either voltage from the destination country. Likewise, a European address alone does not replace checking the installation.

Information to obtain before accepting an alternative part
Item Ask the supplier to confirm Do not use as a substitute
DC output Required nominal voltage and any permitted operating range for the connected hardware “Close enough” voltage or matching wattage alone
AC input Compatibility with the measured or documented site supply The country name or connector appearance
Available output current Capacity for the assigned load under the specified installation conditions An average screen-consumption figure
Cooling and loading The applicable derating curve, airflow, mounting surface, and cabinet temperature A rating quoted without its operating conditions
Connection arrangement Terminal functions, polarity, harness compatibility, and required protective connections Wire color, terminal count, or a photo of a different revision

For LED display power supply replacement, capacity must be checked at the power supply’s assigned load, not by dividing a whole-screen marketing figure by the number of cabinets. The supplier needs to know what each unit feeds. Changing the number of modules supplied by one unit is a design change, not an ordinary spare-part substitution.

Illustrative arithmetic: a label stating 4.5 V and 40 A corresponds to 180 W when those two output figures are multiplied. This calculation does not measure wall-plug consumption, efficiency, or the load allowed in a hot enclosure. It also does not authorize substituting a 5 V unit. The approved design and applicable operating limits still decide whether a part is suitable.

Keep this distinction separate from the broader screen power and operating-cost discussion. Energy estimates help a project budget; replacement approval must address the specific electrical assembly.

3. Check fit, cooling, and the route out of the cabinet

A replacement must fit without forcing cables, obstructing airflow, or changing the intended mounting method. Compare the outline drawing, hole locations, terminal orientation, cover clearance, and cable approach. Include the space needed to remove the unit after the LED wall is installed.

The EAA200HS4.5 specification, revision V1.0, includes mounting, derating, and safety information. It calls for appropriate screw penetration and unobstructed air passages. Those requirements illustrate why mechanical compatibility matters alongside the label. Obtain the applicable documentation for the actual replacement rather than transferring this model’s instructions to another part.

Ask whether the approved replacement uses the existing brackets, harnesses, and covers. If adapters or revised wiring are necessary, the quotation should identify them and the supplier should provide the corresponding instructions. A component price that excludes required installation parts is not the complete replacement cost.

The following official EagerLED tutorial demonstrates service access in a 640 × 480 mm (25.2 × 18.9 in) magnetic front-service screen. It shows modules being removed to reach internal components and connections. Use it to understand the access question; it does not establish electrical compatibility with the EAA200HS4.5 photographed above.

Before planning LED display power supply replacement in a wall-mounted installation, confirm which panels must be removed and whether the component can pass through the available opening. “Front service” should be verified for the power assembly itself, not inferred only from removable LED modules.

4. Approve one replacement before ordering a batch

For a multi-cabinet maintenance purchase, ask for an approved sample or a documented first-unit check before committing to the full quantity. The aim is to establish that the proposed part matches the relevant cabinet revision and that any required installation changes are understood.

Agree in advance who will inspect the mechanical fit, verify the connections, commission the cabinet, and document operation under the agreed conditions. The work should be performed by qualified personnel. A video of a cabinet lighting up is useful supporting evidence, but it does not replace the electrical and thermal checks required for that installation.

Keep fault diagnosis separate. A dark cabinet does not by itself prove that its power supply has failed. Have the fault isolated before buying parts. The site’s LED screen repair guide covers the broader troubleshooting decision.

Record the accepted manufacturer’s part number, revision, cabinet identifier, and approval date. If the supplier proposes a different part later, request a new compatibility review instead of treating the earlier approval as permission for any electrically similar unit.

5. Make the replacement request easy to quote

A clear LED display power supply replacement request reduces the number of assumptions between the buyer, supplier, and service technician. Group identical verified cabinet revisions together; separate units whose labels or wiring arrangements differ.

Frequently asked questions

Can a higher-wattage unit replace the old one?

Not on wattage alone. The output voltage, input range, installation conditions, connections, and mechanical arrangement must also be suitable. Ask the supplier to approve the exact alternative for the cabinet.

Can I adjust a replacement’s voltage to make it compatible?

Do not use an adjustment as a substitute for compatibility approval. The approved voltage range and connected module requirements must be confirmed first. The EAA200HS4.5 documentation specifically cautions against arbitrary potentiometer adjustment.

Does an outdoor cabinet require an identical-looking sealed power supply?

Appearance cannot establish the required protection or cooling arrangement. Confirm the cabinet’s environmental design and the approved component specification. Do not infer an individual component’s weather rating from the complete screen’s rating.

Should every cabinet receive the new replacement model?

Only after the relevant cabinet revisions and installation conditions have been reviewed. A successful replacement in one cabinet does not establish compatibility with different modules, wiring, or power assemblies elsewhere.

What if the old label is unreadable?

Provide the screen order reference, cabinet model, and clear photographs to the original supplier. Ask for the approved bill of materials or a documented identification. Avoid placing an order based solely on an enclosure photo.
